Qi’an

Qi’an does not wait in place for you.

The crossing brings you to a world equally as foreign as it is familiar: its own hours, labor, grudges, celebrations, and unfinished business. Seasong is the first city most Defenders come to know. It is not the only place with an opinion about their return.

Seasong

Where the sea meets the schedule

Seasong is a coastal town with a taste for spectacle. Markets, training halls, docks, civic work, and public gatherings share the same streets. The morning baker, the odd-shift clerk, and the night watch do not stand forever beneath a marker. They go to work.

Friendship matters because people do. A relationship can change a price, a welcome, a warning, or the next door somebody is willing to open. Choosing who receives your limited time can pull you into local loyalties that began long before you arrived.

A schedule becomes a relationship. A relationship becomes access. Access changes what work the world will trust you to do.

A day in three hours

Qi’an moves at eight times the rate of Earth

DawnMorningNoontideDuskEvenfallOvernight
In Qi’an Outside the realm
1 minute 7.5 seconds
1 hour 7.5 minutes
1 day 3 hours
1 week 21 hours
1 month 2.625 days
1 year 45 days

The clock does more than tint the sky. It decides who is awake, which shift has the counter, and what kind of encounter is possible.

Miss the baker and you may still find the night watch. The world does not vanish because your errand changed.

Elemental order

Five parents, ten children

Fire, Water, Earth, Metal, and Wood are the five parent elements. A properly catalyzed relationship between two different parents creates one of ten child compounds. Reversing the pair does not invent another child.

Quintessence is not a sixth element beside them. It is the common source moving through soil, water, root, flesh, breath, craft, and disciplined use.

That order is not background lore. Hunters read it in bodies; harvesters and makers turn the reading into food, reagents, armor, and repair.

Elemental discordance

When the balance hurts

The creatures of Qi’an are not born as monsters. Elemental discordance can distort hunger, movement, aggression, and reproduction until an ordinary animal becomes a danger to everything around it.

That is why a rabbit’s bite, an Oakseed’s appetite, or the material carried from a cave can matter. They are clues about the place producing them.

Defenders learn to answer those clues without treating every living thing as an enemy and without mistaking endless hunting for the only useful work.

The clever answer may be a hunt, a harvest, a ward, a meal, or simply knowing which creature should be left alone.

Names worth remembering

The map becomes useful one reason at a time

Pebble Path

The first shared field where four Paths can improve one place in four different ways.

Trail Junction

The point where training begins to open several harder routes.

Marvel Mine

A working danger where Percival’s Hard Hat Clause becomes painfully relevant.

Granite Quarry

A vertical workplace whose elevator keeps a very exact ledger.

Haebang

Qi’an’s capital and a different scale of civic life beyond Seasong.

You do not need to memorize the map before playing. Pioneer the unexplored one reason at a time; the names become useful when the world gives you a reason to ask for them.

patron

establish your legacy

Patronage buys responsibility. Not victory.
